A Greece man is facing misdemeanors and felonies, accused of faking his Emergency Medical Technician credentials for at least two organizations.

Greece police arrested 29 year old Thomas Enedy Thursday, and charged him with criminal possession of a forged instrument in the 2nd degree, which is a felony, and offering a false instrument for filing 2nd degree, which is a misdemeanor.

Greece Police Chief Merritt Rahn says Enedy was arraigned and then handed over to Irondequoit to face similar charges.

It is alleged that Enedy provided forged paramedic credentials to the Barnard Fire District and that he had never been certified as a paramedic in New York state.

Barnard Fire District Chief Thomas Cappon says Enedy was a career paid firefighter in his district since last September. He says when Enedy's EMT card came up for renewal this month, that some things "didn't look kosher", and notified the Greece Police. He would not get more specific as to what was out or order.

Cappon says all credentials appeared to be in order when he was hired.

Before working for Barnard, Enedy was employed at Irondequoit Ambulance. That is why he is facing similar charges in that town.

Cappon says Enedy is certified as a firefighter. He says he graduated from the Rochester City Fire Academy. He also says that Enedy worked for Monroe Ambulance in the past.

Cappon says at no time was anyone's life put in danger by Enedy not having proper credentials.

A statement from Irondequoit Ambulance Vice-President Kirk Nelson says "The members of Irondequoit Volunteer Ambulance were shocked and saddened to discover that one of our career paramedics did not, in fact, have the certifications that he claimed to. We have taken steps to assure this cannot happen again and as always our main focus is to provide definitive care to the residents of Irondequoit. We are cooperating fully with all agencies involved in this investigation and therefore will not comment any further."

A press release from the Greece PD states that charges by NY State Police are also pending against Enedy.

Investigators from Greece and Irondequoit PD were not immediately available for comment.
